These instructions are long, but trust me, they look much harder than they really are.
The short version is: Every user can access an 'Admin Mode' by clicking the link at the top of the gallery page. You need to be in 'Admin Mode' in order to make a new album and upload your photos into it. You'll figure out the rest. The full manual for the gallery software is at Coppermine Documentation.
The long version follows:
First, login, and go to the photo gallery.
At the top of the page, you will see some links (in blue):
Album list - My gallery - FAQ - Admin mode - Upload file -
Logout - Last uploads - Last comments - Most viewed -
Top rated - My Favorites - Search
Click on:
Admin mode
You will get a message:
Entering admin mode...
Some grey buttons will have appeared. Now you can create an album to put your photos in. Click on the grey button:
Create / order my albums
then create a new album by pressing New. Give the new album a better name, and press Apply Modifications so that your changes stick.
Now on the blue links above, press:
Upload file
You will prompted for how many file upload boxes you want (ie how many photos do you want to upload).
File upload boxes:
There is a maximum of 10 uploads at one time, but you can upload more photos in a second upload session if you want more than 10 in your new album.
Enter the number of photos you want to upload this time (eg "5"). Press Continue.
Now you can enter the path of the files into the upload boxes. Click on the little blue folder button to find them on your computer.
Click the Upload button, and wait (if on a dialup connection ... wait, and wait, and wait, grab a cuppa, wait some more). Your files will upload ... when they are done, press Continue.
Almost finished ...
Now the software will show you each photo in turn, and ask you to select which album you want to put that photo in. Select your new album for each photo, and optionally give it a title and some comments. Once you've done that for each photo, you are finished !
Important: By default, all photos will be publically viewable on the Internet. If there is something embarrassing/incriminating in them, and you want to make them only visible to registered forum members, you can click on the grey Modify my albums button, and change "Album can be viewed by" to "Members of the 'Members' group".
It's a good idea to post a note somewhere on the forum that you've added some photos, so everyone knows that they can go and gork at your new additions. |
